Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Food Marketing Institute Action Center. The short explanation of this alert was: The House of Representatives is expected to vote on a health care package that includes H.R. 3590, the Senate's health care bill and the Reconciliation Act of 2010 this Sunday. The Senate passed this legislation on Christmas Eve on a party-line vote. With the election of Senator Scott Brown, the only way Democrats can continue the so called health care reform process on a partisan basis is to have the House pass the Senate health care bill and then "fix" the legislation using the reconciliation process. FMI has previously opposed H.R. 3590 based on its provisions and we continue to oppose the bill and the process Speaker Pelosi and Democratic leadership is using to force through the nearly trillion dollar overhaul of our health care system that will have a negative impact on our industry. Speaker Pelosi does not yet have the votes, but is working furiously to round-up the 216 needed for passage and every member of Congress needs to know where we stand.
