Vote No on Craig Becker Nomination
SENATE HELP COMMITTEE APPROVES BECKER NOMINATION TO NLRB
SENATE FLOOR VOTE EXPECTED NEXT WEEK – OPPOSE BECKER
FMI sees the Becker nomination as a backdoor approach for implementing provisions of the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) without Congress enacting a new law. Craig Becker's record speaks for itself. Based on his extensive writings over the years in various law review articles, Becker has made it clear that he advocates rewriting current union-election rules in favor of organized labor. Becker views and writings are well outside the mainstream and would disrupt years of established precedent and the delicate balance in current labor law. Becker is blatantly pro-labor and anti-employer.

Subject: NLRB Vote
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
The purpose of my letter is to strongly urge you to vote "No" on a cloture motion relating to the nomination of Craig Becker to serve as a Member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
Craig Becker's background and his numerous law review articles that he has written over the years clearly show that he holds extreme views on how the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) should be interpreted and how it can be changed without the need for any new legislation by Congress. From Becker?s writings, I firmly believe that he sees no formal role for employers in union elections and that the secret ballot should only be used to give employees a choice as to which union will represent them. In other words, Craig Becker would attempt to circumvent the will of Congress on important labor law policies thru administrative rulings if his nomination is confirmed by the Senate.
Craig Becker is clearly too radical and well outside the mainstream in his views and positions on the NLRA. Becker's nomination is a threat to my company, job creation and the revitalization of America's economy. It must not be allowed to go forward. I urge you to vote "NO" on the Craig Becker nomination to the NLRB.
Sincerely,
|
